Story
"Audio log. Scribe Fairchild, Pokemon Rangers, Kanto division.
"Who the fuck names these things? Womb Invader? Ugh! The Initiates need to take more time when thinking of names for the mutanted fauna of the wasteland. This is just unacceptable.
"But as much as I want to complain about the lack of interesting and creative names for these abominations, I have a job to do.
"The 'Womb Invader' is a heavily mutated form of the feral Pokemon known as Tynamo. It displays characteristics of a class six pseudo-parasite and possesses a strict preference regarding hosts. All hosts we have encountered were either natural females, intersex (formerly known as hermaphrodites), or masculine andromorphs (appeared male but possessed a female reproductive system).
"We still lack information about how this creature enters its host's body, but we have data from adult specimens on record and their impact on their hosts. This data is both disturbing yet fascinating in some aspects. This knowledge may provide us with ways to protect both ourselves and civilians from these creatures in the future.
"Being representative of class six pseudo-parasites, it integrates itself into its host's body and cannot survive if removed from said host. This report will go into more detail about that soon.
"Under normal conditions, the body would reject the creature as the foreign invader that it is. However our medical staff believes that this creature is capable of adapting its host's immune system to be compatible with its own. This tricks the host's body into treating it like it belongs, but it also does other things to its host.
"We have conducted interviews with various hosts and they all share some common points. The first is that none of the hosts believe their condition to be an infestation. They view it as a union of two beings into one, and use the word 'we' often. For example: 'could we please have a soda'. This strongly implies that memory modification and behavioral changes take place during the infestation process. We learn why, which will be discussed a little further into this report. During the interviews we noted that the creature sometimes extruded part of its body from the host's vagina, prolapsing it to some degree. Each time it did this, it either looked around or tried to consume any food that was within its reach.
"Medical examination was conducted with some resistance from the hosts, one of my Initiates had been paralyzed by a Thunder Wave from one host's creature while attempting to perform a direct physical exam. This shows that this creature is capable of assisting in the defense of its host. We had to assure them several times that they, and the creatures in their bodies, would not be harmed before they acquiesced to the exams. We performed several scans, even x-ray imaging and took baseline readings. Exploratory surgery was considered, but outright rejected by every host. They even displayed very defensive behavior when it was discussed, suggesting that the creatures have access to their host's knowledge and intelligence on some level.
"For the most part, the baseline tests were mostly in line with a pregnant female. Blood samples contained elevated levels of hormones typically found in pregnant females, except that the placental hormones were markedly absent. And while they were healthy, the hosts demonstrated an increased appetite.
"We then moved on to ultrasound and x-ray examinations. We did the ultrasounds first.
"Holographic renderings of the ultrasounds revealed that the creature is not simply inhabiting the host's uterus. It has completely replaced the uterus and ovaries, taking their place within the abdominal cavity. Its body merged with, or had assimilated, the uterine and ovarian tissues, rendering the host incapable of bearing children in the process. This has made it a part of the host's body and enabled it to derive nutrition from the host, presumably directly through the uterine arteries. This appears to be its primary parasitic trait. Yet the fact that the hosts all had elevated pregnancy hormones, including estrogen, strongly suggests that this creature is producing them within its own body and passing them into the host's blood. We also noticed vestigial tendril appendages along the surface of the creature's body within the abdominal cavity.
"X-rays of the hosts all showed the tendrils had infiltrated the spinal column where they and continued straight along the spinal cord to the brain. The tendrils have infiltrated the frontal, occipital, and temporal lobes of the brain. Specifically, the creature has targeted the vision, hearing, and reasoning centers of these lobes. It sees what they see, hears what they hear, and manipulates the host's self-perception and reasoning to favor itself.
"This explains why the hosts view the creature's habitation of their body as both normal and natural. It is indeed directly manipulating its host, but only to a very narrow scope. It is allowing the host to control their own body otherwise, likely because it cannot assert control over its host's motor cortex or it lacks the ability to do so.
"Since we don't know exactly how these creatures enter a host's body, and the hosts refuse to discuss the process, we are forced to extend our research into this creature. We will have to wait and see how they reproduce, and keep close tabs on the hosts we have interviewed. We need to know how the creatures infest a host so we can better confront this problem.
"While it is hard to say if this creature is a parasite or not, it is still a mutant and mutants have to be researched as per doctrine. The more we learn, the more capable we will be to remove them from this world. The only exceptions we should allow allow are those mutations and creatures that prove useful to us in our mission to catalog and prevent the misuse of technologies of the old world.
"And this creature, as badly named as it is and as uncomfortable as it makes me, is among those that could be helpful. We could use the more cooperative ones for field assignments. I may strongly dislike these creatures, but I cannot ignore the fact that they and their hosts have potential applications as contractors or hirelings. At least for as long as it suits us..."
