The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the quiet estate. Beneath the gentle light, Caelum and Liandra knelt by the same tree where they had shared a moment of peace before. The world felt distant tonight—just the two of them, huddled close, their breath steady, plotting their next move. Liandra’s eyes gleamed with the same mischievous glint that had first drawn Caelum to her. She leaned in, her voice low as she outlined the last details of their plan.
<"I think it'll be perfect,"> she murmured, a smile tugging at her lips. <"When he steps right into that trap, it'll be all over for his ego.">
Caelum’s grin matched hers, a quiet thrill building in his chest. He loved the idea of getting back at the overseer—showing him that the keidran weren’t so easily broken. The trap they had set up was simple, but it would deliver the humiliation the overseer so richly deserved.
<"We just need to get it set up before anyone notices,"> Caelum whispered, glancing over his shoulder.
<"It'll work,"> Liandra gave him a playful nudge, her tail flicking behind her in the cool night air. <"Though, do you think it’ll really shake him? He seems so sure of himself, like he’s untouchable.">
<"Let’s find out,"> Caelum replied with a wink. He picked up the sack of supplies they had brought, securing the rope and logs they would use to set the snare. <"He needs to understand that we’re not his slaves anymore. Not in spirit.">
<"The overseer won’t know what hit him,"> she added with a low chuckle. <"He’s been too smug lately, thinking he’s got control over us.">
Before they could continue, a rustle broke the stillness around them. Both of their ears perked at the sound, their senses sharpening. They turned toward the source of the noise, but there was nothing there. No movement, no more sounds.
Caelum frowned, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end. <"You hear that?">
Liandra glanced around, her eyes narrowing. <"Probably just the wind.">
But they didn’t know. From the shadows, the unmistakable shape of a figure crept into view—a fox, known among the slaves for his sly nature and unwillingness to get involved in matters of rebellion. His name was Ral, but the others simply referred to him as the "rat," after he betrayed Caelum and Liandra a few months back. He crouched behind a tree and a thicket of bushes, listening intently to their conversation. He was too far away to be seen clearly, but his eyes gleamed as he soaked in every word.
Ral’s eyes narrowed as he watched the two keidran plot. A small, self-satisfied smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He had been wary of them ever since they first arrived at the farm, even telling the overseers about their behavior. It was his role on the farm, though set back a bit after he found out about their stunt with the poisoned water. He sought to get back his rank as soon as possible, and he needed to make sure they wouldn’t get in his way. And now he’d heard enough to know they were planning something big. Something dangerous.
<"Stupid,"> Ral muttered under his breath, turning on his heel and silently slipping away. He had a job to do.

The overseer’s quarters were dimly lit, the only light coming from the flickering flames of a candle. His weary eyes were half-lidded as he reclined on a chair, the fatigue of the day wearing him down. He had spent hours inspecting the slaves earlier, and now he longed for a peaceful rest. But the sound of the door creaking open caught his attention.
Ral stepped in, his movements smooth, his expression unreadable. He looked briefly at the overseer, who raised an eyebrow in irritation.
"Can’t you see I’m trying to sleep, fox?" the overseer growled, his voice thick with exhaustion.
Ral didn’t flinch. He stood firm, the sly grin on his face betraying his calm demeanor. "I’m sorry to disturb you, Sir. But I think you’ll want to hear this."
The overseer’s eyes narrowed, irritation giving way to curiosity. "What is it?"
"They’re planning something," Ral said smoothly, leaning in closer. "Caelum and Liandra. I overheard them talking about a little prank they’re going to pull on you."
The overseer stiffened, the hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "A prank? From those two?" His voice was laced with disdain. "How bold of them."
Ral nodded. "They’ve set a trap for you. Nothing too complicated, but it’s enough to humiliate you. I thought you should know."
For a moment, the overseer said nothing, his brow furrowed as he considered this information. Then, his lips curled into a wicked grin. "Well, well, well. Seems like they’ve forgotten their place."
Ral stepped back slightly, watching carefully. "I thought you might want to deal with it yourself," he added, his voice sweetening. "I’m just the messenger."
The overseer’s expression shifted, from irritation to cold calculation. He stood up, his broad frame looming over Ral. "Get back to your barracks, fox. I’ll take care of this." His voice turned steely. "You’ve done enough. Now get out."
Ral hesitated, a brief flicker of doubt crossing his mind. But the overseer’s command was clear, and Ral knew better than to disobey. He nodded quickly and turned to leave, but not before he shot one last look at the overseer.

Caelum and Liandra, unaware of the betrayal that had just unfolded, were already heading to the overseer’s inspection area. They carried the logs and rope with quiet determination, making their way through the estate’s grounds.
The trap was almost ready, and the adrenaline was beginning to build. They could already picture it—watching the overseer trip into the snare, his inflated ego shattered for everyone to see. But just as they reached the spot where the trap would be set, they heard footsteps. Heavy, deliberate, echoing through the night.
Liandra froze, her hand instinctively moving to the small knife she carried. <"Damn,"> she muttered under her breath, <"He’s here.">
Caelum’s heart began to race. He didn’t need to look to know who it was. The overseer’s unmistakable figure stepped into view, his cold eyes glinting in the moonlight.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" The overseer’s tone was dripping with venom, and Caelum’s heart sank. He turned swiftly, only to see the overseer standing just behind them, his whip at his side and his eyes full of cold fury.
"I knew something was up when you two started looking too comfortable." He smirked, taking a slow step toward them. "You thought I wouldn’t notice? How cute."
Liandra’s eyes widened in shock, her mouth opening as if to speak, "H-how did you know?" The words came out as a harsh whisper, confusion riddling her face.
"Oh, let’s just say a little birdy told me about your plan," the overseer explained.
The two stood flabbergasted, the realization sinking in. <"Ral …"> Liandra whipped her gaze to Caelum, who was just as stunned. Caelum clenched his fists, his anger rising as he locked eyes with the overseer, his body stiffening in disbelief.
"You two are about to learn what happens when you think you can get away with things like this." The overseer’s voice was a low growl as he circled them, his gaze icy. "And I’m not going to be lenient. We’ll handle this the old-fashioned way."
He cracked his whip against the ground, the sound sharp and jarring in the quiet night. Caelum’s blood ran cold. He didn’t know how much Ral had told him, but it was clear the overseer knew about the prank. His fists clenched, but before he could react, the overseer moved swiftly, grabbing Caelum by the collar and shoving him to his knees.
"Though I should honestly applaud you, thinking that you could get away with this," the overseer sneered. "You’ll pay for your insolence."
"You’re going to regret this," Liandra spat, her voice low but full of venom.
The overseer ignored her, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her roughly to her feet. "I don’t think you’re in any position to be making threats," he said, his eyes flashing with malice as he turned his attention to Caelum, the whip still in hand. "You thought you could play games with me? Let’s see how long you last before you break."
Liandra tried to move, but the overseer was too fast, grabbing her arm and forcing her down beside Caelum. The overseer stood over them, his breath heavy with fury. "You should know better than to think you can defy me."
He reached for his whip, the leather crackling ominously as he prepared to lash out at Caelum’s back. With each strike, the sound of the whip filled the air, sharp and cruel. Caelum gritted his teeth, refusing to cry out, even as his skin tore beneath the lashes. Liandra, helpless, watched in fury, her fists clenched.
No matter how much they tried to resist the magic within the collars, neither the wolf nor half-wolf could force their bodies to comply, to stand up, only to remain in place while the lash struck against their backs.

From a distance, Ral watched, his heart pounding in his chest as the overseer continued his brutal punishment. He had told the overseer everything—too much, perhaps. He’d betrayed the two keidran to keep himself safe, but now, as he watched them suffer, a flicker of doubt crossed his mind. He recalled the overseer’s command to return to his barracks, to stay out of the way. But how could he walk away now? How could he reconcile this with his ambitions?
Still, he did nothing. The sight of Caelum and Liandra’s pain gnawed at him, but he knew that if he ever wanted to regain his place, he couldn’t afford to show weakness. Not now. The overseer’s punishment raged on, a stark reminder of just how much power the humans had over them.
Hours passed, the whip’s sound finally fading into the distance. The overseer, satisfied with his work, dismissed them. Caelum and Liandra were dragged away, their bodies bruised and bloodied, their spirits bent but not broken. The overseer gave them no mercy, no chance to recover.
As they were thrown into the cold, dark cell, their eyes met, and despite everything, the unspoken bond between them remained unshaken. They had endured, and they would endure again.
Ral knew that in due time, everyone would know it was he who threw the two wolves to the overseer, and that the want and fear of his position would force him further down this path he had taken. No, there was no going back. Perhaps in good time, he could live in the manor itself, free of the potential of finding himself dead in the woods.
Ral gulped. It was only a matter of time before the other slaves would see him dead—as a traitor, nothing more.

The Rotom tries to debate with Rita to try and get her to go away, but Rita is in no state of mind to actually bother listening to him. After all, even if he is a washing machine at the moment, he has a certain... ergonomic look to him that Rita is hellbent on making use of. Probably not the best place to be at the moment, stuck in his current state.
Something tells me Rita's about change his partial typing from Water to Poison.

...Yep, no surprise there. Looks like Rita found herself trapped in the haunted house, got lost, and inevitably spent maybe a bit too long looking for the little Nidorina's room. Judging by the earth-shaking gastrointestinal distress and that look in her eyes, it seems like she found it. Much to the Rotom's dismay. Guess now is a better time than ever to find out if ghosts can die twice!

Happy Halloween! Rotom was always one of my favorite Pokemon because of its design and its various forms, and given its ghost typing and mischievous nature, I figured that it would be fun to do something with it for the holiday. This worked out really well for me, given that there was that massive Game Freak leak recently that showed a prototype design for Wash Rotom that... decidedly did not look quite like a washing machine. Naturally, one thing led to another, and now this mysterious silhouette in the third panel is going to make the Rotom regret living. Guess it serves the Rotom right for trying to scare somebody in a haunted house, but I don't think anybody deserves what the electric ghost has in store for it...
No prize for guessing who it is, pff.

Months passed after Caelum and Liandra shared their first intimate night together, and in that time, their bond only grew stronger. They had learned to navigate life as slaves, adapting to their surroundings, finding joy in each other's company, and, above all, keeping their spirits alive amidst the harsh conditions they faced daily.
It was another sweltering day on the farm, and the two keidran were assigned to work in the fields—tilling the soil for the next planting season. The sun beat down on them as they toiled, but the exhaustion that used to drain their will was now lighter, softened by the warmth they had found in one another.
As Caelum dug into the earth with a hoe, his ears twitched at the sound of Liandra's laughter. She had been teasing him for being overly focused, her bright eyes glinting with a playful spark as she carried a heavy sack of seeds on her side. Her usual mischievous smirk danced on her lips, and Caelum couldn’t help but smile as he straightened up, wiping sweat from his brow.
<"You're getting slow,"> she teased, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of her lips as she tugged a stubborn weed from the ground.
<"You wish,"> Caelum shot back, a grin spreading across his face as he bent back to his work. The soreness in his muscles was almost comforting now, a reminder that he was still alive, still capable of feeling something other than pain. And Liandra—she was the reason his heart hadn't hardened completely.
As the two worked, a group of other keidran slaves toiled nearby, their movements mechanical, devoid of spirit. The field was vast, stretching out endlessly towards the horizon, where the mansion of their master loomed like a dark shadow. It was a reminder of their place in this world—property, nothing more.
But here, in this small corner of the field, Caelum felt free, even if just for a fleeting moment. His gaze drifted back to Liandra, her body silhouetted by the orange sky. He couldn't help but admire the way she carried herself, strong and defiant even in the face of everything they'd endured.
They worked side by side for hours, their movements synced through months of shared labor. As it became time for the slaves to have their lunch, Caelum and Liandra took a brief break; sitting down under the shade of a nearby tree, Caelum stole a glance at Liandra. Her fur, now slightly matted with sweat and dirt, still looked beautiful to him. She met his gaze, a soft smile spreading across her face.
<"You know,"> Liandra began after a long stretch of silence, her voice low, <"I never thought I'd find anything worth caring about in a place like this. But..."> She hesitated, her hands stilling in the dirt. <"Then I met you.">
Caelum’s heart skipped a beat. He straightened up, his eyes meeting hers, and for a moment, the weight of their situation melted away. It was just them—two keidran in love, defying a world that told them they were nothing.
<"I feel the same,"> he replied softly, his voice barely above a whisper. <"You make all of this... bearable.">
She chuckled, shaking her head slightly. <"Just bearable, huh?">
He grinned, scooting closer to her, his hand brushing against hers as he leaned in. <"Alright, maybe more than that.">
Before she could respond, a sharp voice cut through the moment. One of the human overseers was making his rounds, and the sound of his whip snapping through the air sent a jolt of tension rippling through the field.
<"Back to work, dogs! No slacking off!"> the overseer barked, his eyes scanning the rows of keidran with a cruel smile.
Liandra flinched, her body stiffening, but Caelum stepped in closer, shielding her with his larger frame. <"Don't worry,"> he muttered under his breath. <"He's not gonna ruin this for us.">
The overseer’s gaze lingered on them for a moment longer before he moved on, his attention diverted to another unlucky keidran who hadn't been working fast enough. Caelum watched as the human stalked away, his hand unconsciously tightening into a fist.
<"One day,"> Liandra whispered, her voice laced with anger and determination. <"One day we’ll make them pay.">
Caelum nodded. <"Yeah. One day.">
The two fell back into their routine, though the tension from the overseer's interruption hung in the air like a storm cloud. Still, Caelum couldn't help but steal glances at Liandra as they worked, his thoughts drifting to a future where they could be together without fear, without chains. He didn’t know how, but he was determined to find a way out of this life—for both of them.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the keidran were herded back to their quarters like cattle. Caelum and Liandra lagged behind, sharing a quiet moment before they had to return to the cold reality of the barracks.
<"Tonight,"> Liandra murmured, her voice barely audible over the distant calls of the guards. <"Meet me by the tree, after the moon’s up.">
Caelum raised an eyebrow. <"What for?">
She smiled, that mischievous glint in her eyes back in full force. <"I’ve got a plan. Something that’ll make this hellhole a little more interesting.">
Caelum couldn’t help but smile back. <"Alright, I’m in.">

Tales from Malaka 3 - Chapter 13: The Laz Mansion
Story
Jacob swallowed hard as he looked up at the decaying mansion. It was completely out of place in the posh and busy inner-city neighbourhood. Vines and other vegetation had taken over most of the facade. One corner of the structure had collapsed, exposing the inner walls of what probably was once a dining room. The windows were dark, like the empty eye sockets of a yellowed, decomposing skull. Jacob looked around the street. There were other mansions from the same era in which it was built. Some of them were fancy restaurants and cafes. Some were obviously still residences, but impeccably maintained. All had signs of life and vitality.
Except this one.
Jacob double-checked the address, hoping Dr. Laz gave him the wrong house number. Unfortunately, it matched.
The malinois pushed the creaky, rusty gate to one side. It only moved enough to let him squeeze through. Jacob winced as he navigated the crumbling walk up to the stairs, which looked sturdy enough, but gave him worry as he put his weight on each step. They groaned under each footfall he made. Taking in a sharp breath, he knocked on the flaking, fragile front door. There was nothing here but sadness and decay, he decided.
To his surprise, he heard a rattling on the other side of the door. It creaked open, revealing Dr. Laz, dressed in his normal white lab coat and nothing else. He couldn’t help but steal a quick look at his exposed testicles, lit by the bright lights of the streetlights.
“Jacob,” Dr. Laz gave a strange smile. “I’m glad you could make it. Please, come inside.” The deer held open the door and made a slight bow.
Jacob gingerly made his way over the threshold and sighed as Dr. Laz shut the door. The mansion was even more of a mess inside than it looked from the sidewalk. Furniture was partially covered in dirty sheets. A threadbare rug covered a cracked, rotting parquet floor. His eyes adjusted to the darkness as he noticed dusty paintings on the wall and flaking wallpaper.
“Please pardon the mess,” Dr. Laz bleated. “I don’t get many visitors. In fact, it’s been about ten years since someone other than myself has been in this room.”
Jacob didn’t know what to say. He looked around at what used to be a very upscale interior. “I… I can see that.”
Dr. Laz reached around and scratched the back of his neck. “This was our family home for four generations. My great grandfather built this with his shipping company’s profits. I inherited it after my parents divorced. My dad didn’t want anything to do with this house, so he gave it to me. I just can’t seem to part with it. I’ve had numerous offers. Always some kind of sleazy developer. They all want to knock it down and build a condo tower or something.”
Jacob frowned. “So why did you invite me here, Dr. Laz? Is everything okay?”
Dr. Laz gestured towards the hallway. “Let’s go into my lab.” The deer made his way towards a lit doorway as Jacob followed.
Stepping into the brightly-lit room, Jacob marveled at the intricate architecture of what was probably once a ballroom. The floor was a bit better maintained here and was filled with large electronic equipment, tables filled with monitors and other machines he did not recognize. Everything hummed with an efficient, modern aura. It was in complete contrast to the rest of the dilapidated mansion.
“I do a lot of my work at home,” Dr. Laz bleated. “Sleep is the only other thing I do here. And I haven’t been getting much of that recently.”
“Oh?” Jacob gave him a quizzical look.
Dr. Laz shuffled his feet. “I published the findings I got using your sample. It got a lot of attention, Jacob. You have a very unique physiology. It’s been rather hard keeping up with the interviews and video calls with other scientists.”
Jacob blinked. “How… unique?”
Dr. Laz smiled. “Very. Your lycanthropy exists in great concentration in your DNA. More so than any other test subject that science has encountered. Don’t worry. Like any good scientist, your identity remains a secret only I know about. It’s not like they’re going to knock on your door or anything.” The deer looked away, his brow furrowed.
“Something tells me someone knocked on your door, Dr. Laz.”
The deer fidgeted as he wiped the ‘natural’ half of his brow with the back of his hoof. “The reason I brought you here tonight is that very reason. Last week, I had an unexpected visitor. I turned him away, but he was persistent. He showed up at the university twice. Ultimately, he and his thugs trapped me in the underground parking garage after I finished work for the day.”
“Trapped?”
“He had me shoved into a van that was parked next to my car,” Dr. Laz seemed agitated. “He was in the van and told me he needed me to do work for him.”
“Who was he?”
“Tiberius Costa.”
Jacob blinked. “The washed-up pop star? What the hell did he need you for?”
“He offered to fix up my house and pay me handsomely,” Dr. Laz looked away, then back at Jacob. “He’d heard about my scientific report on you. He was very interested in me doing work for him.”
“What kind of work?”
“One thing most folks know is that when he got injured on stage, his handpaw was blown off. One thing most folks don’t know is that his groin and testicles were also injured. The device that exploded had a gel-like chemical component that splashed all over his thigh and crotch, effectively destroying his ballsac and testes. He’s been a eunuch since then. He wants me to chemically restore him through artificial hormones and surgical reconstruction.”
“Can you do that?”
“It’s never been attempted before. I could have said yes and it could very well succeed, but I wasn’t going to go along with his second request.”
“Which was?”
Dr. Laz looked nervous again. “He wanted me to create a biological agent based on your DNA. I told him that I would absolutely not do that.”
“Shit,” Jacob barked. “Like, a chemical weapon of some sort?”
Dr. Laz nodded. “Exactly. He wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. I only got away when I said I would give it consideration.”
Jacob stared at the deer. He could hear a quiet click and a buzz coming from Dr. Laz’s cyborg-like skull plate.
“Which is why I needed to tell you about this in person, away from the lab. I think he bugged my workplace. Here, I know if someone has been here.” He gestured to the dusty floor, revealing footprints made only by Dr. Laz and Jacob. “And no one else has been here.”
“Um. So, am I in some kind of danger, Dr. Laz?”
“No. Not at all. Unless in the case of a very remote chance he drugs me and gets me to say your name, you’re safe from him.”
“How remote is this?”
Dr. Laz swallowed hard. “Uh. Remote. But, you need to know in case something does indeed happen to me.”
Jacob sensed he wasn’t getting the full story.
“Dr. Laz? Is there anything else I need to know?”
The deer looked away. “I did offer to help him, though. Not with the agent. His, uh, biological reconstruction. I figured it would be a nice goodwill gesture that might get him off my back. He’s… persistent.”
“Yer gonna fix his balls?” Jacob flickered his ears.
Dr. Laz nodded. “I think I might be able to create an artificial hormone pump in a testicular prosthetic that can help him. Maybe even give him a somewhat-normal sex life.”
“And you need me to do this?”
Dr. Laz nodded again. “I need your permission, Jacob. He’s got me cornered and I think if I can restore his natural male functions he’ll leave me alone.”
“How… exactly am I involved?”
“I need more samples from you and a lot more diagnostics need to be run on you,” Dr. Laz replied mechanically. “To be frank, you’re more or less a premium, top-of-the-line male sex machine and modeling Tiberius’ solution on your lycanthropy-infused DNA structure is the best chance he has of having a sex life again.”
Jacob swallowed hard. “I… I’m gonna have to think about this, Dr. Laz.”
“I do hope you agree, Jacob. I would very much like for him to leave me alone. There’s something… off about him.”
Jacob blinked at Dr. Laz. His eyepiece glowed yellow, then amber before receding to its normal darkness.
“He scares me, Jacob.”
