I always enjoy tackling arthropod characters in ref sheets! This lovely wasp had a preexisting design, but the client asked me to update it and throw in some bug knowledge.

Wasp genitalia is really odd. I’m very pleased that the client was open adding it on this new version!

Insect Anthros, they are rare and sometimes difficult to nail “just right”.
I was looking back at my older art and I remembered that I had an old Hornet lady named Veronica Vespa.
I don’t draw many insect ladies in general, so I thought I’d give a Hornet another try.
Originally, this was going to be a replacement for Veronica in general, but with a dozen scrapped attempts, I decided to make this into a different character in general.
So this is Blanche Bellerose, a Bald-Faced Hornet.
Yes, they are black and white, and super aggressive too.
Seemed like a good combo for a feisty little shortstack.
I leaned into some Mega Man inspiration for Blanche, with some rounder robotic proportions.
Personally, I’m happy with the way Blanche turned out.
The shades of pink really pop against the black and white.
I’m going to try to revisit Blanche in the future and most likely give Veronica a redesign as well.
Because, it’ll be nice to have some anthro insects in the rotation.
