I've done some really big and heavy projects recently. Over the past two months, I've worked on multiple commissions, all with detailed backgrounds and with pretty meticulous shading and effects I had to sort of figure out on the fly. I really enjoyed doing them, and I love putting out a piece of art that I put my heart and soul into, but it's quite exhausting too. During my last piece, I spent a good two weeks on the background, and like I said on that post, it ended up being 203 layers in photoshop ahaha. So I wanted a change of pace!

I usually never do 'just' a sketch or lineart, and most of my art takes at least a week or so to complete, but I managed to crank this out in a few hours. It's refreshing and a real nice change of pace to just focus on the character art and the design, and play with expressions and clothing folds and not worry about being precise, or about color and shading. I get to do the fun creative part and bow out for the tedium.
This isn't permanent - I am going to do loads more colorful and fully rendered stuff. But for now I'm just gonna play for a little while. I've got five or six of these in the pipeline, and I'll be chucking them out hot and fast!
