I was reminded of the Hermit - a card that deals with total introversion - that is where the idea of the glowing object came from. But Prince's isolation was not exclusively an act of searching. It had to do with cocooning, dissolving, slowly reforming - though these more negative "defensive" aspects can still be part of the Hermit. Visually, I kept the colours disaffected, and let my intuition do the rest on the go (which led to a lot of overworking.) The character is turned away from the viewer and covered. He is hiding. A little ghostly, kinda foggy. I'm not sure what i feel, maybe some kind of Nadir. I'm not sure if the pink might not be a hint of rawness. Well anyhow, I was touched to hear that I managed to gauge the vibe well, considering there were no WIPs shown during the process. It is important to mention here that Prince did provide inspiration by talking about his photography to me too - I can still remember a pretty lovely watery-veiled surrealist black and white composition of his that he showed. 

Typically I would avoid a scenario where suffering is shown in a positive way. I mean, this isn't really a positive depiction, but you know, like, solidified into meaning, when I usually do try to put a positive spin on things (Do I, actually?). But since this was a part of Prince's history that he had integrated and wanted to communicate, I was actually eager to get to it and feel grateful for the vulnerability he brought to the conversation.
