❝Once upon a time, there was a Monkey with a Moonlight Coat who sold his soul.

The tragic legend, which will fade over the centuries to be known only to the ancients, tells of the exploits of Sarugami, a Monkey who became Spirit after a pact made with the Dark Lord, Naito.

The Great War between men and demons raged in these times, and under Mount Sentinel, home of the fallen hero, poured a rain of perpetual crimson snow.

Witnessing many atrocities, Sarugami volunteered as a soldier despite his young age, desperate to defend what was left of his beautiful Mountain, once pristine white and sparkling with golden pearl when the sun still rose. His family and especially his little sister were all that were most dear to him and death had punctuated his life for far too long for him to fear losing his to the detriment of theirs.

But cruel was the fate which quickly came to sound the death knell for the brave Monkey with the Moonlight Coat. The stories differ as to his death. Some speak of an epic duel at the top of the mountain, during a monstrous storm that could only have come from the sadness of the gods, and others, less elocant, speak of an invincible faceless demon who pierced the Monkey and his Sister's hearts with his rusted blade. The Monkey failed protecting his sister.

Regardless, their flames were eventually extinguished, before Sarugami's was abruptly revived by the Dark Lord who offered the monkey the choice between joining his sister or taking revenge. A dishonest pact when you know the condition of Sarugami's heart, bruised and still remembering the taste of the metal that had just stabbed it.

The Monkey embraced the Pact and was revived to become himself a demon with eternal life. His power monstrously increased, he killed a large number of demons with his massive blade that some believes has been made from her sister's bones and impregnated with her heart, until Mount Sentinel could see the sunlight again and regain its pure white color. However, himself being a demon full of hatred, lust and anger, the villagers enshrined him from their lands and let his name fade over the centuries.

No one knows what happened to the Monkey with the Moonlight Coat. Some believe that he stills eradicates demons, others believe that he is looking for a way to die in order to rest with his sister.❞
